Syphilis Making Comeback, Gonorrhea More Treatment Resistant, LSUHSC's Martin Says

Here is some new information regarding STIs. It doesnt paint a pretty picture.

"the number of cases of the asymptomatic Chlamydia trachomatis, the most common reportable infectious disease in the US, is growing; gonorrhea, the second most common reportable infectious disease in the US, is growing more resistant to treatment; syphilis is making a comeback which could wipe out the gains made in syphilis control following the epidemic of the late 1980s; and M. Genitalium has the potential to become a public health target as recent work has now linked it to pelvic inflammatory disease in women along with being a known cause of nongonococcal urethritis in men. Dr. Martin's complete presentation follows here"

  1. Gonorrhoea is a sexually transmittable disease. It is caused by bacterium known as Neisseria gonorrhoeae. It can lead to life-risking disease. For prevention, one should use condoms, restrict the number of sex partners, seeking regular medical check up, pregnant women should go for regular checking and taking proper medication etc.

  2. Hi,

1 in 4 sexually active teenagers become infected with an STD every year, in the United States alone. Now, more than ever, we need to join together to fight this growing issue. As I read through your website, it is clear that you share the same passion for STD/STI awareness. We here, at Disease.com, understand the importance of STD/STI prevention and treatments. If you could, please list us as a resource or host our social book mark button, it would be much appreciated. We can not reach every teenager, but together we can try.
If you need more information please mail me with the subject line as your URL.

    Thnak You,
