1 woman dies each week in Australia because of relationship violence. The risk of this violence increases when a woman is pregnant.
THIS IS CRAZY. We all have an ethical responsibility to speak out when we hear about or see violence against women. This doesn't matter if it is something we see online or in front of us in real time. No more are all of us able to be a passive bystander.
Sexual health includes relationship work and gendered oppression. If you see something speak up.

Making complaints CAN make a difference

Recently a Vodka company in posted an advertisement that appeared to depict a rape. After complaints the advertisement was withdrawn within a day and the company made an apology and donated funds to the Rape, Abuse and Incest National Network. Part of our work with young people should be HOW TO BE AN ACTIVIST against the things in life you want to change.

Los Angeles (CNN) -- Belvedere Vodka executives quickly apologized for an ad posted online that showed a smiling man grabbing a woman, who appeared to be in fear, from behind.
"Unlike some people, Belvedere always goes down smoothly," the ad's caption read.
It drew hundreds of negative comments after it appeared Friday on the company's Facebook page, with many suggesting it appeared to depict a rape.
Belvedere Vodka marketing Senior Vice President Jason Lundy posted an apology on the page Friday afternoon, saying the ad also offended "the people who work here at Belvedere."
"The post is absolutely inconsistent with our values and beliefs and in addition to removing the offensive post we are committed to making sure that something like this doesn't happen again," Lundy said.
Company President Charles Gibb added his apology in a posting Saturday.

This looks like a nicely put together discussion regarding a topic that people often have trouble accepting. I found this in 'Medical News Today'. Please have a look.

"Research conducted at the University of Granada warns about the negative effects of the so-called "benevolent sexism", a term used for apparently "positive" ideas and attitudes of men towards women, which are based on the assumption that men must take care of and sacrifice themselves for women.

The research revealed that when individuals are told that a man has attitudes socially considered as "good" towards his wife - even although those attitudes are sexist - they tend to justify sexual violence within the couple and to exonerate the man (as they consider that he is entitled to have sexual relations with his wife) and to blame the woman (as they consider that it is a woman's duty to sexually satisfy her husband). "
